Seamless by Design: The Production Team That Never Missed a Beat

Virtual events can be a nightmare, like building an airplane while you’re already in the air. But not with this crew. We had this beautiful rhythm where everyone played their part perfectly while staying flexible enough to improvise when shit hit the fan.

At the end of February, we wrapped up our Creative Connections Workshop series, and I still find myself thinking about what made those virtual events feel so damn seamless. The truth? It was like having a killer jazz band where everyone just got it.

What made it work was that everyone genuinely respected each other’s expertise. Our technical folks weren’t trying to direct content, and our producers weren’t messing with the tech. Everyone stayed in their lane while watching each other’s backs.

  • David Carr-Berry kept the big picture in focus as our Technical Director—he was thinking three moves ahead while the rest of us were executing in real-time.

  • Nate Beltz was our lightning-fast Broadcast Tech, making split-second adjustments that nobody noticed but everyone would have missed if they didn’t happen.

  • Line Producer Layne Arnold had this magical ability to make even the most nervous guests feel like they were just having a coffee chat instead of broadcasting to thousands.

  • Jordan Hall was our content wizard, crafting webinar topics that balanced stakeholder requirements with what resonated with creative audiences— she was the bridge between corporate demands and content people gave a damn about.

  • Heather Lynn oversaw production with the calm confidence of someone who’d seen it all—her real magic was making sure the themes and topics were threaded from show to show over the quarter while ensuring our stakeholders’ goals were achieved with each episode.

  • Betsy Ambrose was our Content Producer who made sure our guests were speaking about topics that connected to the demos, creating a strong throughline for each episode that kept attendees captivated.

  • Julie Manthey made sure our audience felt part of something bigger than a webinar.

  • And James Blechinger handled all the behind-the-scenes planning chaos so the rest of us could focus on putting on the greatest shows of all time.

What set us apart wasn’t individual talent (though we had plenty). It was how we worked.

We rehearsed like crazy—not because we were perfectionists, but because we wanted this stuff to be muscle memory when we were live. We had backup plans for our backup plans. We lit actual candles on show days (yes, we were THAT team) and had little rituals that kept us centered when the pressure was on.

At the end of the day, we knew that customer experiences didn’t just happen. They’re built deliberately by people who give a shit about what they’re creating.

And the results spoke for themselves. In less than 18 months, our team created three branded formats, produced 85 high-quality livestreamed events featuring over 100 interview guests and live software demo presenters. That’s more than one show every single week for a year and a half straight. And here’s the kicker—we did it without a single technical failure or event cancellation due to production. Not one.

Looking back, I now understand why our coordination had to be so tight. When you’re running at that pace, week after week, month after month, there’s no room for unclear communication or undefined roles. A weekly cadence of high-stakes live events forces you to develop systems that work, not just occasionally, but reliably, over and over again. That kind of sustained performance doesn't happen by accident.

A great show was never about perfect tech or flawless execution. It was about a group of people who cared deeply about what they were doing, working in perfect harmony.

Making those events with that team was like playing in the best band I've ever been part of—structured enough to be professional, loose enough to be human.

To every member of our Digital Events band: it was a hell of a ride. I miss the rhythm we created together. Thanks for making it look easy.
